On the occasion of Memed Erdener’s exhibition BEAUTY OF BIGOTRY and his residency at Zilberman Gallery–Berlin, you are cordially invited to an exhibition tour and conversation between curator and critic Eva Scharrer, writer and performance artist Göksu Kunak and the artist Memed Erdener. It will be followed by a sound performance by electronic musician Korhan Erel.

The talk will be held in English.


EVA SCHARRER is an art historian, curator and author. Recent exhibitions include Random Walks, Kunsthal 44 Møen, Møn, Denmark (2016), Unfolding Constellations, Centre of Contemporary Art, Toruń, Poland (2016), Gustav Metzger – Mass Media Yesterday and Today, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (2015), and To Paint is to Love Again, Deutsche Bank KunstHalle, Berlin (2013). From 2009 until 2012 she was an agent and author in the team of dOCUMENTA (13), 2007 she was co-curator of the 8th Sharjah Biennial in the United Arab Emirates. She wrote numerous catalogue essays and is a regular contributor for international art magazines, a.o. Artforum, Frieze d/e, Texte zur Kunst und Spike Art Quaterly.

KORHAN EREL is an electronic musician, improviser and sound designer based in Berlin. He treats electronics as an instrument that can co-exist with conventional instruments in free improvisation, solo performances and collaborations in other musical genres and with non-musical disciplines. He uses field recordings, found sounds or self-recorded sounds in his instrument designs and performances. His musical activities cover free improvisation, conceptual sound performances as well as structured and composed pieces. He performs solo, duo and group performances with improvisers, dancers and jazz groups, such as Cyminology, Istanbul Composers Orchestra, The Liz and many other formations. Korhan also does sound design and music for theater, video and dance. Korhan has done three residencies at STEIM in Amsterdam on sensors and instrument design. He was a guest composer at the Electronic Music Studios in Stockholm. He has eight CD releases and several digital releases with various formations. He has played in festivals, venues, museums and art spaces in Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Switzerland, Turkey, the UK and the USA. http://korhanerel.com

GÖKSU KUNAK a.k.a Gucci Chunk is a writer based in Berlin. Ze performed zir texts and lectures at Batard Brussels 2016 (invited by Tom Engels), Stadtsprachen Festival 2016, Poesie Festival 2017, Fuchsbau Festival 2017, BDP reading series at Tropez Berlin curated by John Holten. Zir texts have been published on the official page of The Absence of Paths, the Official Tunisian Pavillion of the 57th Venice Biennial and on the blog The History of Painting Revisited in collaboration with Deutsche Bank Kunsthalle for the Fahrelnissa Zeid Retrospective. Invited by Meg Stuart and Maria F. Scaroni, as a part of City Lights---a continuous gathering, ze had the pleasure to perform with amazing female artists of Berlin at Hebbel am Ufer. As an art-dance critic, Göksu has been contributing to several magazines and blogs such as frieze d/e, Ibraaz, m-est, TanzRaumBerlin, Berlin Art Link, sleek, e-skop. Göksu is one of the co-founders of the blog Viereinhalbsaetze that consists of 4,5-sentence-dance-criticism. Ze is working on zir PhD on queer chronopolitics in relation to performance and contemporary dance with Prof. Dr. Bojana Kunst.
